Advice For Choosing Quality Sportbike Clothing

By Khoei Draker

There are a lot of people out there that would agree that the sportbike is as only good as the rider. But then again, the best rider can only be as good as the equipment and skills that he has. Because of this, you are going to want to deck out a new bike and that should but be limited to simply making sure that you have great motorcycle parts. You will want to make sure that you also have the best possible sportbike clothing as well. This way, your bike experience will be much more fun and a lot safer.

The first component of any good sportbike clothing is the helmet. More than other motorcycle accessories, the helmet is your main protection in case of a crash, and thus you should take the time to select the proper one. Ideally, that means choosing a full-face helmet that is DOT certified and fits snugly. For more comfort, options like vents can be chosen as well. However, some would find the full-face helmet to be too claustrophobic or too hot. Half or partial face helmets can be chosen in these situations, though they do not offer as much protection.

The next thing you are going to want to concentrate on when it comes to sportbike clothing is that of your pair of bike boots. Too many people will simply focus on the design of the boots. While this might be important to you, you are going to want to also consider the protection value as well. Your feet are at a high risk for damage during a crash, so you are going to want boots that give a lot of emphasis on impact resistance and durability. Be sure to check for good ventilation as well in order to prevent too much discomfort from the accumulation of excessive sweating.

The third component is the pair of gloves. They are important because they protect the thin skin of the hands and fingers from scrapes and wind burn. They also provide protection from cold and wet weather, which could potentially numb the fingers or make them slick. That could reduce their reaction time, and be potentially dangerous at high speeds. To choose them, pick the gloves which have good knuckle protection, good wrist support, good waterproofing, and supple grip for the palms.

Finally there is the racing suit. This protects your whole body from scrapes, and usually comes with built in protection for a biker's knees, elbows and shoulders. Here you can choose from leather, nylon, or Kevlar. Leather is more stylish, though less resistant to abrasion than the other materials. You can also choose from high density plastic or titanium as the protective material for your knees and elbows.

Now that you have a little bit better of understanding about sportbike clothing, you are going to want to go out and buy a set for yourself. Remember though, you are going to want to keep in mind that the more graphical designs there are on the sportbike clothing, the more expensive it will be. When you select plain looking clothing, you are helping your budget.
