The complete buyers guide to bass boats

By Martin Reid

Any age at all can enjoy themselves when they go fishing as it is a wonderful pastime and once you start you will be hooked! That will lead to the decision to look into buying yourself a bass boat to go out in the middle of the lake to fish. This sport can be very exciting especially if you are catching some fish but also spending some time with your buddies or friends.

You need first of all a vehicle which is powerful enough to pull this boat. When that boat is fully loaded with everything you need for the trip then you can count on it weighing anywhere near 3500 pounds at least. When you are going to fish you could be traveling up some steep hills and over some rough roads so make sure that your car or truck can pull that weight.

You need to consider where you are going to do your fishing how big is the water system where you will be. This will determine what size of boat you will need to buy. If the lake is fairly big then you need a boat that is at least nineteen feet long. If it is a much smaller lake then an outboard motor boat would do just fine. There is also another consideration to think about.

The material that the boat is made from is another possibility to choose. Aluminum versus fiberglass and they both have some good things about them and some not so good but that depends on your situation how much money you want to spend and the size of the lake you will be fishing in.

A fiberglass boat would be the best choice if you are spending most of your fishing time on a large lake. You will get a smoother ride they are sturdier not so apt to be blown around when it is windy but they are more expensive. On a smaller lake you would be just as happy with an aluminum boat for your fishing needs. Weigh all your options and then make your decision based on the facts that you come up with.

There are other options too as you might see a good used boat for sale but be careful as the motors do not last as long as the boat itself so you might have to buy a new motor to go with the boat. If you get the boat for the right price buying a new motor for it will not be such a hardship. When a good deal comes along and you do not know all there is to know about boats have someone else check it out for you who is educated in their workings. This might save you some headaches down the road.

The good thing about buying a brand new boat is the warranty. You just have to fish and not worry about anything going wrong with it and you having to put the money out to fix it. Happy Fishing!
