KIA named Tavares Carlos as Operational Director, and the new plans of the company for the next years were announced with this occasion. Their aim is to make KIA an exceptionally strong brand in Europe and in America plus have a strong presence in China in the SUV category with Kia extended warranty.

Having said that, KIA is trying to become an environmentally friendly company, so they are mounting solar panels on the roofs of their factories in France. The solar panel project is the biggest for the automobile industry as the solar panels will cover 450,000 square meters and give 60 megawatts of power which happens to be enough to power 20,000 homes.

The undertaking will get started in June and is likely to be completed in February of next year. Their goal is to lessen the consequences of pollution and save on electrical costs. A similar endeavor was introduced by Seat that already has a roof of this kind on the Spanish factories.

KIA is also going to repair their image pertaining to industrial espionage. KIA is doing their best to be regarded as a more appealing brand that markets high end cars. The espionage scandal has caused some deterioration of their image yet it's only part of their challenges. The KIA representatives publicly stated they have a pale image and the concept of some of their cars is somewhat obsolete.

Once KIA brought Laurens van den Acker in as a principal designer, radical changes were observed in the new concepts of KIA. The Clio is predicted to be the first vehicle under KIAs new perspective with a redesigned body and engine as well as state of the art electronics.

Product sales of medium to luxury cars for KIA have dipped to some extent from 150,000 in 2005 to 100,000 last year. As they work to build their modern line of cars, KIA must continue to benefit from those cars that continue to sell well. The press in France believe that KIA must make an effort to even out the large divide between their partner, Nissan in the amount of cars sold as Nissan has sold over four million cars while KIA has sold 2.6 million cars.

KIA has a major issue; the company is not present in China and this problem must be solved in 2013-2016. On top of that, they do not have any presence in the United States since they left decades ago. Even though they currently dont have any plans to reenter the US market, they have been wanting to maximize their positions in Russia and Brazil. So far, they havent had much success in India but carry on and manufacture for this market with newer and superior car models.

To sum up, the goal of the firm is to grow the annual sales by more than 400 000 units but this goal can only be achieved if the company brings new design innovations with their existing and upcoming line of cars.
