Air lockers: This convenient piece of kit makes sure maximum traction and looks after that pesky spinning wheel that is probably going to get you stuck. Perfect for snow, mud, sand and rocky terrain.

Fog lights: Driving around in no man's land means you will need the best lighting attainable. Having a fair set of mist lights is a smart idea.

Snorkel: Many 4x4 autos are already kitted out with this handy feature. It helps your car get the the absolute most clean air that it can while travelling thru dusty areas or crossing bodies of water.

Camping gear: For true off road drivers, proper camping gear is a complete must. Many coverings and tents are able to be attached from your 4WD, providing a non-permanent home while on the trail.

If you're taking part in off road driving, extreme care must be taken. This is a mixture of experience, common-sense and having the right safety kit in case of emergency. Even driving in the town can call for extra protection. Some additional safety features to think about include:

- Rear view safety camera: 4WD automobiles are well known for view obstruction when reversing. A rear view camera makes sure that you can see everything from objects to small children when backing out of your driveway.
- Tyre mend kit: The very last thing you need is a hurt tire when stuck in the no man's land. A tire mend kit can come in very handy in emergencies.
- Recovery kits: These include handy features such as tow straps, d-rings, hi-lift jacks and first aid kits.

We don't always need some accessories, but if they are fun, lush and exciting, we want them! Some cool features you could be curious about include:

- Turbo kits: A bit of extra turbo power is a preferred add-on for many 4x4 owners. Adding a turbo to your engine and fitting a larger exhaust pipe will give your engine more air and boost your 4WD's horse-power.
- Portable mini barbecue: This is a popular present concept for the off road explorer. Handy to store and provides a less complicated and safer alternative option to the conventional camp fire.
- Interior accessories: Jazz up the inside of your vehicle with some seat covers, a steering wheel cover and some floor mats.
- 4x4 steps: Sick of climbing into your 4WD? There are steps and rails you can purchase to make it simpler for yourself and passengers.
