Why Buy A Used Car

By

If you are in the market for a new car consider buying a used one instead. There are many advantages to buying a used car, but the biggest one of the course is price. You will pay far less for a used car than you would have to buy a new car.

Many people realise that when they buy a new car the moment they drive it off of the forecourt it drops in value. However, many people do not realise that it plummets in value in some cases the value drops as much as 20 per cent. If you are planning to keep the car for many years this is not a big concern, but if you want to sell it in a few years it is a big problem.

That's not to say you won't get a great deal from a new car dealership, but for an even better deal, head to a used car lot or search your local classifieds for a well maintained car or truck that won't blow your bank balance.

If you are buying from a used car dealer every vehicle on the lot should have been checked repaired and be ready for you to drive away. It is against the law for them to sell you a vehicle that is not fit for purpose or that is worth less than they ask you to pay for it. Under UK law if you buy a vehicle and it breaks down within a few months car dealer, depending on the problem, has to pay to have a problem resolved.

However, is far simpler to ensure that you only buy a used car from a reputable dealer. If you have a friend or a member of your family who is experienced in repairing and servicing cars take them with you before you make the final decision to buy a used vehicle. That way they can check it for any obvious flaws of problems.

You get the best bargains by buying a used car that had only one previous and careful owner. Try not to buy a vehicle that has too higher mileage has been involved in an accident. Check things like tyres to make sure that they do not need replacing. Make sure that you take a test drive and that whilst you are taking that drive your listing out for mechanical problems.

Check the vehicle's MOT make sure that it has at least a few months to run. Some car dealers will allow you to get a MOT if there is not a lot of time left on the old one. Even if they do not allow this check the vehicle over to see what would need doing to enable it to pass an MOT. Things like tyres and wipers are very easy to check.
